For a couple of weeks I was wondering my my UnhinderedByTalent blog wasn't showing up on the ubt_phi feed. Eventually I thought to actually check the actual XML being generated by RSS, and it was clearly broken by my switch to WordPress 1.5 in March. Oops. I fixed the problem, which then resulted in a flood of posts showing up in the friends lists of the few people that are "subscribing" to that feed via LiveJournal. Sorry about that. Hopefully things will behave better now :).Current Mood: Hay-fever-y

After lots of thought and discussion, we've decided to set up our own blogs one our domain using WordPress. So for the moment all my blogging is going to be happening at http://UnhinderedByTalent.com/Phi . I may someday set things up so that posts there get duplicated here, but for the moment I don't have time to set that up.Current Mood: determined Current Music: "Black steel" by Tricky from Maxinquaye

Looking for blog clients that will do spell checking and the like, and ecto looks like a plausible option for the Mac. I haven't actually run it (since I don't have a blog :)), but it seemed worth making a note of.
Ripping a lot of my new Xmas music on my office box, and definitely digging it a lot. This new album from The Necks (Mosquito) sounds very cool...Current Mood: energetic Current Music: Mosquito :: The Necks :: Mosquito

Sue and I have been wading through the oceans of blogging tools/systems/hosts, and have decided a few things:
- We want to host the blogs on our web site (which rules out things like LiveJournal).
- We want to use an open source solution.
- We probably want to have separate parallel blogs for each of us, with the ability to draw in headlines from the other people's blogs (as opposed to interleaved postings like we currently have on ThomasMcPhee.com).
Given all this, we're looking at WordPress as a likely candidate. Thoughts from others (pro or con, or suggestions on alternatives) would certainly be appreciated, however, as it is a vast field and I can't claim to have surveyed it completely or all that carefully.
One thing that LiveJournal does that I don't (immediately) know how to do with WordPress is the cool "Current Music" feature that automatically pulls what you're listening to from iTunes. I guess doing it by hand wouldn't kill me :), but it is cool none-the-less.Current Mood: determined Current Music: Evolution-Fred Frith-Cheap At Half The Price

I'm listening to the last of the 3 John Peel Festive Fifty shows for 2004, which essentially represent the end of John Peel's time on air. Some excellent music, but all quite sad at the same time.
Got a ton of excellent new music for Xmas, most of it I've either not heard or only heard once. I'll have to say more as I actually work through it.Current Mood: drained Current Music: John Peel's 2004 Festive Fifty, 3 of 3

I'm not sure I'll ever use this, but tmbmike
point me to his journal here, so I thought I'd give it a try. It
looks pretty cool, but I'm guessing that we'll continue to use our
presence at thomasmcphee.com instead.
